About us

HSM Industri A/S was founded on 15 April 1975 by Esben Møller under the name of Hammelev Smedie (smithy).

When he was an apprentice smith and only 19 years old, Esben Møller took over his master's business. Soon the business outgrew its premises and a couple of years later he built a new smithy.

At the beginning, the majority of customers were farmers with agricultural equipment that needed repair, but soon the client base increased to include large industrial businesses in Grenaa. More people were hired, followed by a new extension of the premises in Hammelev.

A few years later, the business had once again outgrown it premises, and it moved to the current premises in Bredstrupvej, Grenaa, in April 1997. Today, the client base has increased significantly both in Denmark and abroad, involving multifarious tasks. Today, our staff consists of approx. 150 employees.

About our history and milestones:

2013
Our 1,600 m2 surface treatment facility is put into operation.

2011

Opera Pavilion
We become the turnkey contractor for an opera pavilion for the Opera in Copenhagen. The pavilion is a gift from the A.P. Møller Foundation to the Copenhagen Municipality. C. F. Møller designs the pavilion with copper cladding on the outside. Internally, the ceiling is covered with oak which is broken by a beautiful skylight with an integrated steel star. Two water buses can call at the Opera Pavilion at once and via a copper-cladded gangway, passengers can disembark dryshod. The pavilion was shipped by barge from the Port of Grenaa to the capital.

We expand with a 1,200 m2 assembly hall.

2010

Grenaa Shipyard
We buy Grenaa Shipyard which becomes an independent subsidiary of HSM Industri A/S. Kenny Mathiessen, who is appointed new day-to-day manager, comes from a position as project manager at HSM Industri.
